King Mohammed VI Lays Foundation Stone for Medical-Psychological-Social Center

    10 Jun 2017

On Thursday, King Mohammed VI laid the foundation stone for a Medical-Psychological-Social Center in Tit Mellil (Mediouna Province). The center, a solidarity-based project, will offer psychological and social care for patients with stabilized psychological conditions.

The Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity will oversee the construction of the center at a cost of MAD 7 million. The creation of the center stems from the sovereign’s deep conviction to increasing access to health services which is one of the main pillars of fostering citizenship and achieving sustainable, comprehensive and integrated human development.

This psychological and social rehabilitation center will offer treatment for mental illnesses via the development of relational and learning skills, and strengthening patient’s autonomy, sense of responsibility, well-being and self-esteem.

Built over a surface area of 2,851 square meters, the center will include a medical department comprised of consultation rooms for general medicine, psychiatry and psychology. The center will also have a community department for hosting workshops on hairdressing and aesthetics, halls for physical education and training, and a drop-in unit.

It will also include relaxation rooms, a refreshment room with a kitchen, a library and administrative and technical offices.

As an integral part of the social and medical community-based program for the Casablanca-Settat region (2016-2020), this project falls within the framework of the Foundation-led plan to support the national medical sector. Through the reinforcement of the existing medical facilities, the amelioration of access to health care for poor populations, and the integration of a complementary social approach that supports patients and communities the Foundation hopes to address shortfalls in medical care.
