Morocco, ‘Key Partner’ for European Investment Bank (EIB Vice-President)

13 Mar 2019

Rabat - Morocco is a ‘key partner’ for the European Investment Bank (EIB), said on Monday EIB Vice-President, Emma Navarro.

The Bank is ready to further strengthen cooperation with Morocco through the support of several investment projects, Navarro told reporters following talks in Rabat with Morocco’s Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Mounia Boucetta.

The EIB is willing to support investment projects that can boost growth and create jobs, said Navarro, who is on a two-day working visit to Morocco.

During her visit to the Kingdom, Navarro will meet with several senior officials as well as representatives of diplomatic and business institutions.

Since 2007, the EIB has invested almost €5 billion in new projects in key sectors of the Moroccan economy, including urban transport, energy, water and sanitation and youth education.

Benefiting from 25% of the bank’s total investments in the region, Morocco is the second-largest recipient of EIB financing from neighboring southern European countries.
