Rabat - France has put Morocco on its orange list as part of the country’s preparation to re-open borders on June 9.

France used a traffic light system to determine travelers who are eligible to visit the country amid special COVID-19 measures.

Each country is put on a list depending on its epidemiological situation.

Along with the UK and the US, Morocco and several other countries are listed in France’s orange list. The category allows vaccinated travelers to visit the country.

France also introduced a green list, including countries from which non-vaccinated travelers can also enter French territories.

Travelers, however, will have to present a negative PCR test taken within 72 before their arrival to France.

The green list includes all of the EU and Schengen Area countries, as well as Australia, South Korea, Israel, Japan, Lebanon, New Zealand, and Singapore.

For passengers from orange countries, including Morocco, access to France depends on vaccination status.

People who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 must make a strong case for why they want to enter France, along with a PCR test taken at least 72 hours before departure and an antigen test upon arrival in France.

Travelers also need to undergo self-confinement for a period of seven days, Schengen Visa Info reported.

In addition to a negative PCR test taken 48 hours before departure, travelers from countries listed in the red list must have a “strong purpose of entry.”.

They also need to undergo antigen testing upon arrival.

Both vaccinated and non-vaccinated travelers from the EU list have to undergo self-isolation. Vaccinated people will have to observe seven-day confinement while non-vaccinated people are subject to a ten-day quarantine controlled by security forces.

The red list includes Turkey, Uruguay, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Bahrain, among others.

Like France, Morocco also expressed readiness to receive tourists and Moroccans residing abroad (MREs).

On Sunday, the Moroccan government announced the resumption of flights from and to Morocco starting June 15.

The announcement comes after positive indicators of the epidemiological situation and the decrease in the number of COVID-19 cases.

Morocco also put countries in two categories: List A and List B.

List A includes all countries with positive indicators on COVID-19.

List B is intended to be a restrictive category and features all the countries that are not concerned with the relaxation of measures contained in list A.
