Israel’s El Al Airline to Repatriate Israelis Stuck in Morocco

Morocco suspended all flights amid concerns over Omicron, the new COVID variant.

30 Nov 2021

Rabat - Israel’s national carrier EI Al Airlines will schedule flights from Marrakech to repatriate Israeli citizens trapped in Morocco, according to reports from the Israeli media.

The decision comes after the Moroccan government suspended all flights to and from Morocco amid concerns due to the outbreak of Omicron, the new COVID variant, in several countries.

The first flight will take off from Marrakech at 6 p.m. today, the Jerusalem Post reported.

El Al will also schedule two more flights that are set to arrive in Israel over the next 48 hours, the Israeli newspaper added.

In line with Morocco’s ongoing COVID measures, Morocco’s Royal Air Maroc announced it will postpone the launch of direct flights between Casablanca and Marrakech.

Royal Air Maroc was scheduling the flight for December 12, but the company postponed its first direct Casablanca-Tel Aviv trip to a later date to be communicated once Morocco announces new travel regulations at the end of the two-week suspension of all flights.

As part of the postponement, Royal Air Maroc said it is setting up a special system to support its customers in the management of their trips.
