Chery Records Ground-Breaking Sales in 2021

Chinese car manufacturer Chery topped the list of Chinese car sales this year, with export sales breaking through the 200,000-unit threshold.

Rabat - Exceeding its annual target sales set at 200,000 units in just the first 10 months of 2021, Chery Automotives is now officially the first passenger car manufacturer to export more than 200,000 annually, according to the company's latest sales data.

The Chinese car manufacturer has been cultivating its global market for more than 20 years. With a global customer base set at 9.8 million users, Chery’s has 1.9 million users outside of China, becoming a benchmark for Chinese car manufacturers aiming to expand their overseas market.

Resisting overall market trends, the Chery Group holds the record for the fastest growth rate, with a cumulative sales set at exactly 739,730 units, increasing by 44.3% from the same period of the last year, according to the company’s data.

The sales data reveals that the state-owned group increased its year-to-year sales by an astounding 92.7% in October, exporting more than 20,000 units.

The jaw-dropping sales figures increased by 145.7% between January and October 2021, reaching a cumulative sales volume of 212,959 units.

Such historic sales figures position Chery at the forefront of Chinese car exporters.

Chery’s top markets overseas

Chery has been cultivating its presence in the Russian market for over 16 years. Building a reputation for being a people’s vehicle, Chery’s Tiggo 7 is officially the most popular Chinese SUV in Russia.

With a strong foothold in Russia, Chery’s operation in the country resulted in a staggering 266% year-to-year increase in sales between January and October, according to the Association of European Business (AEB).

In Chile, Chery has overtaken Toyota, Kia, and Volkswagen, ranking fourth in sales in the South American country, according to ANAC (Asociación Nacional Automotive Riz de Chile A.G.).

With a market share set at 6.3% in October, Chery’s operations in Chile recorded an annual growth of 101.4%.

Chery’s Tiggo 2 topped the SUV sales charts in Chile, becoming the best-selling SUV in the country in 2021, contributing to a remarkable increase in Chery’s SUV market share that had reached 15.3% in October.

Chery also strengthened its market position in Brazil this year, with sales operations up by 127% compared to the same period of last year. The Chinese giant has overtaken Japanese car manufacturing giant Nissan in ninth place in passenger vehicles, according to Brazil’s Fenabrave (National Federation of Automotive Vehicles Distribution).

Chery’s market share in Brazil increased to 3.97%, with passenger vehicle sales ranking in the top 10 best-selling cars in the country.
