    Morocco's Automobile Sales Down 8.56% in April 2022

    Compared to the previous year, automobile sales in Moroccos have fallen by 8.56%.

    Casablanca - After a 5.5% decrease last February, Morocco's new automobile sales stood at 53,912 units at the end of April 2022, down 8.56% compared to the same period in 2021.

    Morocco's Association of Motor Vehicle Importers (AIVAM), in its monthly statistics, noted the registrations of ​48,148 units of passenger vehicles (VP), down 7.74%, with 5,764 units of light commercial vehicles (LCV) sold, a decrease of 14.87%.

    The “Dacia” brand dominated the passenger automobile class with a market share of 26.7 %, totaling 12,874 new registrations by the end of April 2022.

    Renault was the next best-selling company after having sold 6,938 new vehicles (14.41% market share), followed by Hyundai (5,210 units and 10.82% market share), and then Peugeot (3,676 vehicles and 7.63% market share).

    In light commercial vehicles (LCVs), Renault boosted its sales by 91.15% to 1,296 units, gaining a 22.48% market share.

    Meanwhile, DFSK's sales fell by 41.64% to 831 units (14.42% market share), while Mitsubishi's sales increased by 8.81% to 741 units (12.86% market share), AIVAM adds.

    As for premium automobile sales, Audi sold 1,441 units at the end of April, representing 2.99% of the market, ahead of Mercedes (983 units, 2.04% market share) and BMW (910 vehicles, 1.89% market share).

    Further, AIVAM reports that Porsche sales declined 3.73% to 129 automobiles, while Jaguar sales fell 2.44% (40 units).
