    Morocco To Celebrate Islamic New Year on Saturday

    The month of Muharram marks the beginning of the Islamic New Year.

    Rabat - Moroccans will celebrate the Islamic New Year on Saturday, July 30.

    The Islamic Affairs Ministry announced the news on Friday evening after religious experts carried out a crescent moon sighting.

    Therefore, the first day of Muharram, marking the beginning of the Islamic new year (1444) will correspond to Saturday.

    The ministry concluded its statement, extending its good wishes and congratulations to the Moroccan people and the royal family.

    Like Morocco, Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court announced Saturday as the first day of Muharram.
