    Heatwave To Last Until Thursday Across Morocco

    The new heatwave will also concern provinces near Rabat.

    Rabat - A new heatwave will start today with temperatures ranging between 42 and 47 degrees Celsius, affecting several provinces across Morocco.

    A new weather alert from the General Directorate of Meteorology said that the provinces of Ouezzane, Taounate, Meknes, El Hajeb, Taza, and Guercif will expect temperatures ranging between 42 and 47 degrees from Sunday to Wednesday August 3.

    The same weather will also concern Moulay Yacoub Sefrou Fz, Sidi Slimane, Sidi Kacem, Khemisset, Khouribga, Khenifra, Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Sidi Bennour, Berrechid, Settat Benslimane, Youssoufia, Chichaoua, Marrakech and Rehamna.

    The same temperatures will hit El Kelaa des Sraghna Tata, Taroudant Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, a as well as the interior of the provinces of Essaouira, Safi, El Jadida, Sale, Skhirate-Temara, Larache, Kenitra, Sidi Ifni, Guelmim, and Agadir Ida Ou Tanane, the weather office said.

    From Tuesday to Thursday next week, the provinces of Boujdourm Oued Ed-Dahab, and Aousserd, and Tan-Tan will experience the same heatwave.

    Morocco has been witnessing a series of heatwaves throughout the month of July. The scorching temperatures have led to wildfires that have devastated thousands of hectares across the country.

    With drought being an important factor in the continued heatwave, the government is now trying to mitigate the wave of extreme temperatures by rationing drinking water consumption in several provinces.
