    Morocco’s Car Sales Increased by 4.2% in August 2022

    In the first eight months of the current year, Kia, Hyundai, and Toyota sold the most automobiles in Morocco.

    Casablanca - Despite rising fuel prices, Moroccan automobile sales climbed by 4.22% in the first eight months of 2022 compared to the same period last year, totaling 11,463 cars sold.

    According to the latest statistics from the Association of Automobile Vehicle Importers in Morocco (AIVAM), passenger car sales amounted to 10,014 units, up 7.3% year on year. On the other hand, sales of commercial vehicles fell by 13.2% to 1,449 units sold.

    Despite this increase, cumulative sales for the first eight months of the current year are still behind the previous year. Only 107,007 units were sold in total, a 9.6% decline over the previous year.

    In terms of the most automobiles sold in Morocco in 2022, Kia, Hyundai, and Toyota stand out as the most popular brands.

    Kia’s overall sales increased by 29.2% to 3,706 units sold at the end of August 2022.

    Toyota grew its sales by 18.5% (4,989 units sold), while Hyundai increased its sales by 12.6%. (10,637 sales).

    Dacia ranks fourth with 26,452 sales, a decrease of 14.3% compared to last year.

    Then comes Renault with 15,919 units sold, 2.7% less than 2021, followed by Peugeot with only 7,903 sales (3.6% decrease) and Opel with 5,245 units (1.7% decrease).

    In the luxury car market, only Audi is performing well, with deliveries hitting 2,736 units, a 7.17% increase.

    BMW sales stood at 1,866 units, a 16% decline from the previous year. Mercedes had a similarly bad year, with 1,657 sales, a 5.4% decrease from 2021.
