Etihad Airways cuts airfares to Morocco by more than 50%

Airline lowers ticket prices amid low travel demand

    16 Mar 2021

Etihad Airways has offered discounted airfares of approximately more than 50 percent to passengers travelling between the UAE and Morocco, in a bid to stimulate travel demand.

The announcement comes after Abu Dhabi included Morroco in its list of “green” destinations that now enjoy quarantine-free travel.

The Abu Dhabi-based carrier has gradually expanded its network worldwide since the easing of coronavirus restrictions last year. The airline currently flies to more than 50 destinations, with more expected to be added over the next few days.

In a statement on Monday, the airline said flyers can secure return tickets for economy flights from Abu Dhabi to Casablanca for 999 dirhams ($272), which is approximately 60 percent lower than the normal fare (approximately 2,595 dirhams).

The offer is valid for only 24 hours from 11am, Monday on and will be limited to 500 customers, on a first come first served basis.

Fares are expected to go up to 1,995 dirhams if customers choose to buy tickets between March 16 and March 28, 2021. The discounted fares will be valid for trips anytime between March 24 and June 30, 2021.

Airlines around the world are still losing passenger revenues due to the coronavirus pandemic. Total travel demand for January, measured in revenue passenger kilometres (RPK), tumbled 72 percent compared to January 2019.
